I had no idea there were people who felt like me

i've recently begun challenging my beliefs.

all my beliefs, including those ingrained in me as one raised "in the truth".. a few years ago i sought therapy for chronic depression and my treatment was remarkably successful.

as a side effect, things that used to "work" for me no longer fit with the new emotional pathways and strengths i was developing.

I should point out... I haven't left the organization. I'm still learning and I've gotten into a routine that (because of my family) I don't want to alter just yet.
Irony of ironies, I've had perfect meeting attendance for the last 5 1/2 years. I used to be a pioneer. And I'm still going to the meeting tomorrow night because I'm not ready to give up my friends.

I have found that many attending meetings now, elders and pioneers do not believe the garbage. Some times I think this is a joke that there are so many that did EVERYTHING that I did (FS, meetings, BS) for more than 20 years and do NOT see the light. The new WT arrangement is further proff of us belonging to a cult.

The 1914 change was the last straw for me (in 1995). I new the truth was subjective from the FDS. I suggest u read books by ray franz for more understanding on the org.

Conversation with a Pioneer and............

i had a conversation with a pioneer at yosemite national park recently.

she was aware that i do not attend the meetings anymore.

in the past she did not speak to me, but now she did.

I had a conversation with a pioneer at Yosemite National Park recently. She was aware that I do NOT attend the meetings anymore. In the past she did not speak to me, but now she did. She started pioneering at an assembly prior to 1975 and just stopped a few years ago. We talked about the organization. She told me that she still goes too the meetings, but really did not believe anything the society said. She goes for the association. She said I was right 20 years ago when I stopped pioneering and started a career. She mentioned how EVERYONE in the hall demeaned me because of my decision at 19, but now it appears I made the right one.

Many in the org. seem to feel hopeless that the world is still going on and the end has not come. No education, no medical, no 401k, just a green bible.

Are u aware of any that are protecting their investment in the org. by staying active, but do not believe any of this garbage?

Obviously we left, but do u know of any others?

Was Paul a hypocrite? He chased and killed christians then became one. You can't totally blame someone for ignorance. WE were ignorant then saw the light.

30 minute public talks

apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere (i can't find any thread that mentions it).. letter read out at meeting on thursday confirming public talks to be reduced to 1/2 an hour - watchtower same length (one hour).

no new outlines to be given out (yet) , but brothers to reduce the length of their talks by cutting out non-essential material.

no start date given for the change.

They are inching, and I mean INCHING their way to mainstream almost with all these changes. A whole DC about Jesus??? Come on now!!?!?! Whats next?

Ditto, I plan to use my 15 minutes to preach at my children's karate sessions.....or basketball games....or............

my niece told me that they've reduced the district conventions (english speaking as far as i know) by two this year.

In the late 80's at Dodger Stadium, we would max out at 45-50 thousand on Sunday for 2 english assemblies. The spanish had 1 assembly of about 50k. That would mean about 150k total for SoCal. In the LBC there is about 14k max per session I think. Not sure how many sessions.

why is it always republicans against democrats? i think both parties are corrupt and are only looking out for themselves. i wish more people would give independants a chance. bi-partisian politics and party loyalty at any cost is ruining this country.

Wasn't Bush and Kerry from the same Yale secret society? Yet, they still would represent different parties. Who is really running things?

On fading

so i was thinking about this today and wanted to see what you guys think about fading?

for a long time i thought that this was the way to go especially if you wanted to maintain certain relationships be it with family or friends but lately i'm not so sure that fading is the best way to go and here is why.. the stress of having to go to meetings is some times overwhelmingthe amount of time you waste going to meetings when you no longer believe is time you will never get back, time that could have been spent doing something that you really do love, life is short why waste it in the hall?

the end results are the same if you are dfed, daed or fade.

Not sure of your family situation, but I think fading is always better. I have invested my entire life in this org., why should I walk away with nothing? If you are DF or DA you get nothing. First try to change halls away from your friends and fade. Consider using work as an excuse. I have friends across the nation. When I visit their town, I will go to their hall. We enjoy our fellowship, a meal and I see them years later. Why should I give this up? Fading is better.

Do Witnesses have a Stronger Brotherhood than Christendom Does?

this came up in discussion between me and a fellow ex-dub buddy of mine.. as jw's, we had a brotherly unity.....at least many of us did.

if we were going somewhere and needed a witness to watch our place....even stay at our place, we had no reserves about being ripped off by them.

they were closer than some families members oftentimes and we even preferred being around them as opposed to "wordly" family members.

Your relationship with ALL witnesses is contigent upon you NOT being disfellowshiped. I stopped attending meetings and my friends in Texas and Louisiana will not communicate with me. All of the love and kindness is conditional. Is that real love? Are they really friends if it is conditional?

I do not think they are. Unconditional love is the key. If you have a true friend in the church, there is nothing to break the bond. I have friends that I have known for 20 years. My witness associates do not know me, my friends from churches, consider me a highly religious man and STILL love me for the person I am. My association with a body is NOT important to my church friends.

They have proved to be my true friends.
